Our Story

We are Rodney and April Johnson.

Backwoods Donuts grew out of a dream to leave the corporate world behind and work for ourselves doing something we are passionate about.

For over 20 years Rodney worked in the dental industry, joking each morning, “Time to make the donuts!” Years later, that joke became reality.

After being a stay-at-home mom, April went on to work in the donut business for years, decorating, frying, and eventually managing shops in both Utah and South Dakota before moving to Northern Idaho.

We truly appreciate your support and look forward to sharing our passion with you in Sandpoint.

As Rodney likes to say, "Time to make the donuts!"
